The procedure

The area is cleansed and marked. Filler is placed with a needle or cannula at specific points, with symmetry and proportion reviewed throughout.

What to expect

• Tenderness and mild swelling for several days
• Possible bruising
• Results settle over around two weeks

Aftercare

• Avoid pressure and sleeping on your face for 48 hours
• Avoid heat, alcohol and strenuous exercise for 24–48 hours
• Avoid facials and facial massage for two weeks
• Contact us immediately about severe pain or skin colour changes

Contraindications

Treatment may not be suitable if any of the following apply. Your full medical history is reviewed at consultation.

• Pregnancy or breastfeeding
• Active skin infection, cold sores or inflammation in the treatment area
• Certain medical conditions or medications — these are reviewed at consultation
• Under 18 years of age — treatment is not available
• Allergy to filler ingredients or lidocaine

Possible risks

As with any aesthetic treatment, there are risks. These are explained in full before you consent to treatment.

• Swelling, bruising and tenderness
• Asymmetry or lumps
• Infection (rare)
• Vascular occlusion (rare but serious)
