Treatment overview

Lip augmentation uses hyaluronic acid dermal filler to enhance lip shape, definition or hydration. Our approach focuses on balance and proportions that suit your face.

We will talk through your goals and assess your lips and facial features at consultation, and we will tell you honestly if we feel treatment is not right for you.

Potential benefits

  • Personalised approach to lip shape and definition
  • Focus on natural-looking proportions
  • Hyaluronic acid filler, which can be dissolved if required
  • Volume can be built gradually

Results are not guaranteed and vary from person to person.

The procedure

A topical numbing cream is applied, and most fillers also contain a local anaesthetic. Filler is placed carefully with a fine needle or cannula, and the result is reviewed with you before you leave.

What to expect

  • Swelling and tenderness, especially in the first 48–72 hours
  • Possible bruising
  • The final look settles over around two weeks; a review may be offered

Aftercare

  • Avoid make-up on the lips for 12 hours
  • Avoid heat, alcohol and strenuous exercise for 24–48 hours
  • Avoid pressure on the lips, and do not massage unless advised
  • Contact us immediately about severe pain, blanching or colour changes
